This walk is led by Walking the Land who are  exhibiting work at Town Hall Arts throughout September and October in the exhibition Something of Place: Library of Pilgrimages.

This is a three-hour art walk exploring and responding to the natural and cultural heritage of Trowbridge's river, part of the Library of Pilgrimages exhibition, and Explore Art Trowbridge.

The walk leaves the Town Hall at 1pm returning at 4pm, please arrive in plenty of time and refreshements will be avaible to walkers from 12.30pm.

The walk is about 4kms, on level and made-up paths.

Suitable for artists and non-artists who may wish to draw, photograph, record sound or write, as part of exploring these special parts of Trowbridge. 

Suitable for people aged 16+

Bring cameras, drawing equipment etc. and dress appropriately for the weather.

Please do not bring dogs on this walk.

The walk is free but booking is essential as numbers are limited, please also complete a Consent Form - download here.

Further information

Please ensure that you are properly equipped for your walk. The weather can be unpredictable so bring waterproof clothing and/or sun hats and sun cream – it’s best to be prepared for all conditions!

Walking boots or shoes are recommended, but otherwise please wear suitable and comfortable footwear rather than open-toe sandals or high heels.

The walk is expected to cover 4km and take 3 hours allowing for opportunities to sketch and take photographs as well as share knowledge about the area. Please do bring and plenty to drink, especially if it is hot, and food too if you like.

Due care has been exercised in organising this walks, however Town Hall Arts and Walking the Land cannot accept liability for loss, accident or injury caused to any person following the routes.

We may be taking photographs and video of this event to promote and celebrate the project in print and online. If you do not give consent to be photographed or filmed please let Walking the Land or a member of Town Hall Arts staff know on the day.

Meet at Town Hall Arts, Trowbridge from 12.30pm where tea and coffee will be available for walkers. The group are invited to retire to Leykers coffee shop at White Hart Yard at the end of the walk where you can purchase food and drink, and you will be pleased to note they now hold a full licence.

Cars can be parked for free for up to 23 hours on the top levels of the multi-storey car park at St Stephens Place/Castle Place.
